Our activities
The project involves six main investment projects, including both hydraulic engineering and renaturalization activities:
Increasing surface and subsurface retention in Umianowice
The work includes rebuilding and expanding the drainage ditch system, installing measurement devices, and improving water drainage from the catchment area. These measures will improve environmental and water conditions, and the town will gain better flood protection.
Restoration of the Nida River inland delta
This project involves the demolition of flood embankments, the restoration of the Old Nida Riverbed, and the restoration of natural floodplains. This will allow for the expansion of the ecological corridor, improved valley retention, and enhanced flood protection.
Revitalization of the Nida River’s oxbow lake in Brzeźno
Plans are underway to partially irrigate the oxbow lakes, deepen them, and restore water flow. This will allow for the restoration of natural habitats, including peat bogs, and create favorable conditions for the European beaver, otter, and many fish species.
Revitalization of the Pińczów Reservoir and the Nida River’s oxbow lakes in the area of the Pińczów sewage treatment plant
The scope of work includes drainage, reinforcement, and maintenance works that will improve the functioning of the reservoir, streamline water flow, reduce flood risk, and enhance the recreational value of the area.
Restoring the Mierzawa River’s ecological corridor
As part of the work, weir barriers will be dismantled, and natural sections of the riverbed and fish ladders will be constructed in their place. Restoring the Mierzawa River’s ecological continuity will be crucial for the protection of local fish species.
Restoring the ecological corridor of the Nida and Brzeźnica Rivers
The activities will focus on clearing eight migration barriers by rebuilding reinforced concrete weirs and constructing fish passes, which will enable the free migration of fish and other aquatic organisms.
